From the desk of Jaye Michaelis, Landaff resident

PSA
In the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 1st, suspicious people in a loud car were seen on Gale Chandler Road in Landaff. The State Police said that a person was caught on camera lurking around an unoccupied home on Gale Chandler and the owners had reported the image of a man walking around their property. A car was spotted stopped at 1:30 AM by Ore Hill Trail and then proceeded up Gale Chandler. The State Police advises everyone to be vigilant…lock your cars (as they steal catalytic converters) and your doors. These people are targeting neighborhoods and towns where there is no 24 hour police coverage. If you notice anything suspicious, call the State Police Dispatch (Troop F) at 603-846-3333 or if its an emergency, dial 911.

  1. Sandy, re the post below: locking your car (in the driveway) will NOT protect your catalytic converter; it’s under the car. To keep thieves from removing the converter (which only takes a couple of minutes) you need to have a shield installed to block their access. Prius converters are particularly popular with thieves.

Thought you might want to append the information. Feel free to check it out with experts. This has been a big deal in suburban Virginia as well.

Hope you guys are well and enjoying the summer! Hugs Florence
