Lisbon Area Historical Society to Host Program on Local Wildflowers
LISBON – The Lisbon Area Historical Society (LAHS) will host a free public program on local wildflowers and their historical contexts on Wednesday, September 20 at 7pm at the LAHS Museum at 9 Depot Street in Lisbon. The presentation will be given by Sigmund and Anne Hudson, longtime summer residents of the Pearl Lake neighborhood in Lisbon. For years the Hudsons have enjoyed the peace and natural beauty of the North Country, especially all that nature provides around their home and the Pearl Lake area. Anne has made a list of every wildflower, 136 different wildflowers to date, that she has found and then made a card with botanical information for each. She has displayed wildflowers and cards at venues such as Landaff Old Home Day and Lisbon Public Library, sometimes with an opportunity for viewers to guess a “mystery wildflower.” The couple now provides a wildflower of the week for the new LAHS Museum.
“We are thrilled to host this program by the Hudsons so we can learn more about the varieties and history of the beautiful wildflowers we see every day in our area,” says LAHS President, Dorothy Wiggins.
For more information call 603-838-2003 or visit www.lisbonareahistory.org. LAHS serves Lisbon, Lyman, and Landaff, New Hampshire, with a mission to preserve and promote the rich heritage of all three towns.
