Selectboard Position

From the desk of Rachael Booth, Landaff resident:

My name is Rachael Booth and I’m asking you to write my name in for the Selectboard for the March 12th Landaff Town Election. I have been a proud resident of Landaff since 2006. I am a 9-year Navy Vietnam veteran who served as a Mandarin Chinese and Arabic linguist working in military intelligence. I was trusted with security clearances that most government officials don’t’ have and so was trusted with some of America’s greatest military secrets. After the Navy, I became a senior computer scientist, designing programs for the Navy’s AEGIS shipboard cruise missile systems for 30 years. During those years, I moved up to high management positions because of my strict work ethic and ability to get things done well and on time. Under my leadership, my department had the highest productivity rate in the company with the lowest number of errors. And as a Department Manager, my skills working with people were very highly regarded.

In Landaff, I volunteered to maintain the computer systems at the Blue School and to help the children to use them. In the area, I have worked as a substitute teacher at Lisbon, Profile, and the St. Johnsbury academy for foreign languages, (mostly French and Spanish) as well as for music and computer skills. I also taught Chinese at the White Mountains Community College. As an entertainer with my guitars, I have played for patients at Littleton Hospital as part of their Music Therapy program. I worked for an entire semester at Profile High School as a long-term substitute music teacher. I am also the author of three books and am working on a fourth now.

One skill sorely needed right now on the Landaff Selectboard is someone with computer skills. As you can tell from my background, there may not be anyone in our town with more of computer-based background than mine.

I have always been driven to do the very best job possible in any endeavor with which I’ve been tasked because people I work for expect it of me and, more importantly, I expect it of myself.

I don’t give up.  And if you elect me to the Landaff Selectboard, I won’t give up on you, either.

Thank you.

Rachael
