Landaff Road Updates

From the desk of Jeff Nute, Landaff Road Agent:

I would like to share what is going on at the highway department these days.  All of this wet weather has helped us wrap up sweeping, but it has thwarted spring grading.  I have been able to get a couple of the flatter stretches done, but we need a few rain-free days in a row before the serious grading can occur.  So, hang in there, and please bear with us!  Next week’s weather is looking good!

Our bigger dump truck is in a shop over in Jericho Vermont getting some engine emissions repairs done.  I haven’t had great luck with the local garage, and this Vermont shop was very highly recommended, so, although not convenient, I’m encouraged that we will get back a properly repaired truck.  That particular truck’s age (2015) and engine (Maxxforce 7.6L) are notorious for emissions issues and what’s going on is common.  We should have it back in the middle of next week.

A brief update on the Sym Noyes bridge project…  A wetlands scientist has designated the wetlands areas, and the preliminary survey has been done.  It is currently being engineered and a design will be submitted to NHDES (Department of Environmental Services) with an application for the build.  We will advertise for an excavation bid when the proposed design is complete.  Although relatively early in the process, things are on track for completion around the end of November.

We took in about 20 roadside cleanup bags!  Thanks to all who worked to “green up” Landaff!

Summer work will include ditching, culvert replacements, mowing, and paving.  We’ll keep you all updated on schedules and road closures for the work.

Best to all, and remember that you can always reach out with comments or questions.
