Sym Noyes Bridge

From the desk of Jeff Nute, Landaff Road Agent;

I have an update for folks on the Sym Noyes bridge project –

The sitework and crane work have been awarded to J.A. McDonald from Middlesex, VT.  They are a very experienced and reputable contractor that has been around for decades.  They will be starting soon after we have the Department of Environmental Services Wetland Permit in hand, which we could have in a couple, or three weeks.  DES has required some additional information beyond the normal permitting realm, but we are dealing with their requests as quickly as we can.

We are fortunate to have the services of Chad Poland, a Professional Engineer from our bridge manufacturer, Michie Concrete, dealing with the permitting and design process.  His knowledge and experience are invaluable in the daunting application process, and he has the best interests of the project and our town at heart.

I have to thank the neighbors of the job for their complete cooperation and understanding.  Especially notable is the donation of stock and equipment areas on each side of the bridge.  Doug and Deb Erb have offered their yard at the old Mill Brook Construction garage, and Frank Ducharme has offered the old bunker silo and surrounding yard at the old Erb farm.  These donations are an invaluable asset to the contractor and ultimately saves the Town money!

That all said, we are still targeting a December 1st completion.  I’m sure those folks that utilize Sym Noyes Road will be very happy to have their road back to normal!

Respectfully,

Jeff Nute
