The Bath Library Book Club will be discussing “Trust” by Hernan Diaz on Monday, February 9 at 5:00 pm at the Bath Public Library. Set amidst the roar and effervescence of 1920s New York, Trust is both an exhilarating story and a brilliant literary puzzle.

In a novel that spans over a century, one woman is bent on untangling fact from fiction in a story centered around Benjamin and Helen Rask. He is a legendary Wall Street tycoon, and she is the daughter of eccentric aristocrats. With seemingly boundless wealth in a decade of excess and speculation, at what cost have they acquired their immense fortune. This mystery is the subject of a successful 1937 novel, Bonds, that all New York society is reading, but there are other versions of the tale. “Trust” puts these competing narratives into conversation with one another.

Books may be picked up at the Bath Library; hours are Monday 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm; Wednesday 9:00 am to noon and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm; Thursday and Saturday 9:00 am to noon. Anyone with an interest in reading and conversing about books is welcome to attend. For information, please contact the library at 603-747-3372 or email bathlibraryljh@gmail.com
