262nd Birthday Celebration

From the desk of Judy Boulet, Friends of Landaff.:

Landaff celebrated the 262nd birthday of their Charter on January 31, 2026. It was exactly 262 years ago that James Avery and 60 other “down country businessmen and speculators” petitioned King George III for a township on January 31, 1764.

The birthday event was hosted by The Friends of Landaff with the annual Chili, Chowder, Charter Party. Over forty people enjoyed a variety of chilis, chowders, as well as a specially made Hungarian Goulash made by Bill Wiggins. Entertainment for the evening was a Hollywood Squares game, Landaff style, to reinforce our town’s rich history.  Thank you to Dot Wiggins, Rachael Booth, Mary Beaudin, Jeff Nute, Don Beaudin, and Cathy Ferony for providing facts and fun questions.

The tickets for the Wreaths of Restaurant Gift Cards were drawn. The first wreath was won by Don Clark from Lisbon. The second wreath was won by Mark Gracia from Landaff. Each wreath was worth more than $300.00 in gift cards and merchandise. The evening ended with everyone enjoying a decorated birthday cake, brownies, and ice cream.

Thank you to all who attended. Monies raised by the Friends of Landaff are spent on improvements to the Landaff Town Hall.
