Lisbon Transfer Station

Clarification-Recently the Lisbon transfer station sent out a list of changed regulations for bringing refuse for disposal. One of the major ones was that they will no longer accept “white paper” for separate disposal after May 1st. What this means is that they are now only accepting corrugated cardboard boxes, flattened as always. Any other non-corrugated paper that would usually be dumped beside the corrugated boxes – e.g. cereal boxes, soda sleeve boxes, etc – should now just be flattened and placed inside your orange Lisbon Transfer Station plastic bags with the rest of your trash.

The transfer station was losing hundreds of dollars each month to recycle these items and all towns that use the transfer station, including our own, agreed with their recommendation that the practice should be ended.
