Requested by Michael Ball
To the Citizens of Landaff,
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Michael Ball and I am your new Fire Warden for the Town of Landaff.
Fire Wardens are a representative of the State Forester who issues fire permits, and who enforces forest fire laws. You can either obtain a permit through me or online at the NH Division of Forests and Lands site https://nhdflweb.sovsportsnet.net. There is a fee to obtain one online, but not one in person.
A few things to remember:
Category 1 fires are small controlled fires, such as camp or cooking fire, no greater than 2′ in diameter contained within a ring and may be kindled with a permit at anytime of the day whether raining or not. Permit may be seasonal.
Category 2 fires are small controlled fires, such as camp or cooking fire, no greater than 4′ in diameter contained within a ring and may be kindled with a permit between 5pm and 9am unless it is actively raining. Permit may be seasonal.
Category 3 means any other fire, not a category 1 or 2, or a fire greater than 4’ in diameter or a fire not contained within a ring of resistive material. A category 3 fire, conditions permitting, may only be kindled with a permit between 5pm and 9am unless actively raining. Permit maybe issued for up to 7 consecutive days
No residential trash, treated wood (pressure, painted, stained, etc, or material greater than 5” in diameter shall be burned at anytime.
It is imperative that no fires shall be left unattended at any time without being completely extinguished.
This is not all the laws or rules to having a fire outside, but merely a synopsis of the times, sizes, and contact information. Please reach out and ask if you are unsure.
