Folk Art Painting Class

From the desk of Becky McGovern;

Learn the beautiful brush strokes used in folk art painting.

Learn basic skills in Acrylic painting techniques, history of rosemaling (rose painting), and discuss and compare folk art styles and decorative painting, a painting style that focuses on delicate and precise brush stroke/work.

In this class, students will learn From Becky McGovern, how to paint comma strokes, scrolls, line work, and shading techniques- skills that can be applied to all mediums of painting.

All levels of painting experience welcomed. Beginner to advanced.

Becky McGovern


Becky McGovern has been an artist bug her entire life. Artist in oils, acrylic paints, porcelain dolls, fiber arts, seamstress, quilter, and a million more. She holds an Associate’s Degree in Art, NH Cosmetology License, and is currently a member of the Society of Decorative Painters.

She has a sincere interest and desire to share her knowledge of an ancient form of folk art called Rosemaling, also referred to as Norwegian Folk Art.

Becky lives in Landaff, NH on a working beef and pork farm. She has two horses, a very large white dog and a 15 year old bad cat. She also plays guitar and sings once in awhile.
