From the desk of Molly Culver, Teaching Principal Landaff Blue School;
Landaff Blue School staff is preparing for another great academic year!! I wanted to take a minute and give some updates before school begins. Blue School has had a thorough cleaning and is ready for another year of collaborative learning with a positive and encouraging environment. New procedures and protocols to keep everyone safe during this pandemic will be implemented and I will be discussing these safety measures with each of the families during orientation.
We welcome back Mrs. Sigrid Salmela, the classroom teacher for Pre- K. She will also be fulfilling the librarian duties and responsibilities. Mrs. Lyndsie Mckee will be the Inclusionary Assistant for K- 3rd grade. Alexis Blowey will be the afternoon Inclusionary Assistant for the preschool program. The part- time staff members will include Mrs. Denise Cartwright, our school nurse; Mrs. Janet Chickering, French (1 hour per week); Mr. Pat Riggie PE and Health (1 hour per week); Terre Lefler, Art and Mrs. JoLee Horvath, Guidance (1 hour per week). I will also be returning to the Blue School this year and will be the Head Teacher/Special Education Teacher/ Principal.
The Blue School will begin Tuesday, September 8th. Pre- K will begin Monday, October 5th.
Blue School has replaced one of our storage sheds. The new shed will give the school much needed storage and protect the oil tank from weathering. The driveway was repaved and crushed stone was added to level the ground around the school to create safer places to park for staff and families. We have added 4square and hopscotch templates for students to use during recess for added fun and support social distancing during outdoor play. I am very thankful for all the community members that volunteered their time this summer to the Blue School.
We are also very thankful for the generosity of the Littleton Rotary Charitable Club grant and the Mathew Woods Memorial Ice Fishing Derby donation. The Rotary Club funds will be used to enhance the educational experience of the students by purchasing robotic kits to further enhance the Computer Science curriculum and the Matthew Woods Foundation donation will be utilized to rent a tent to extend our classroom outside during the fall months. The Blue School students and staff are so grateful for their commitment to our little school!!
